Cognac? Armagnac? Say it ain't so! Yes, the LA Scotch Club is travelling down the Chunnel from Scotland to France to explore HIGH END cognac and armagnac... the kind that don't make rap videos. These are "Gnacs" that I (Andy) purchased along with a 500 bottle scotch and bourbon collection two years ago. They're rare, delicious, and I didn't want to eBay them so they are going into our first and likely only-ever Gnac event. To sweeten the deal we've invited Franck Vigneron of Maison Comandon to present his Cognac and an intro to Cognac. Comandon his a great house that's starting to turn heads. They're old (1821) yet young in that they're innovative and are gaining noticed with awards piling up.
We'll once again be at Jack and Jill's Too for crepe dinner and dessert. Last March we had our "Peoples" scotch event there, but this time we are the "Bourgeoisie", and as such we shall enjoy:
If you know Cognac, you know that this is a "serious" list. We don't play around (well, yes we do, but we have great drinks.)
This meal includes a choice of 3 dinner "savoury" crepes, and a choice of 3 dessert crepes, including, tax and tip. Dinner-only guests may attend for $20. We these crepes in March. They are delicious. Patio smoking outside is welcome after dinner. Non-member pricing is $65, for dinner and a full night of drinking (we pour more than once!) We're a scotch club, so this may never happen again...
